Tila Homa is a sacred fire ritual (homa) performed using til (sesame seeds) to invoke blessings for ancestors and to remove ancestral doshas or curses. The word “Tila” refers to sesame seeds, which are considered auspicious in Hindu rituals for their purifying qualities. This ritual is traditionally performed during Pitru Paksha (the fortnight dedicated to ancestors), Amavasya (new moon day), or during times when one seeks to resolve Pitru Dosha (ancestral curses) and seek blessings for health, wealth, and peace.
